Christmas with the Seabrooks

For the third consecutive year, Christmas was spent away from Dullsville. (For anyone confused by that reference, it’s the inscription you’ll find above the front door of our family home. It acts as a burglar deterrent and a character profiling tool for anyone that tries to enter.)

As most will agree, it’s never easy being away from your family over the holidays, all the little things that you never really noticed growing up become very prominent when they’re not there: the 7am rush for presents; the Cadbury’s breakfast entree, or the convergence of all family members for some cheesy noel film watching.

Whilst I obviously miss home, the last three years have taught me to appreciate what I have, and not to covet what I don’t. So far my memories include Christmas with Lucan, Brit, Calum, Kate and Julz in Surry Hills Sydney; the year after was a spectacular affair in Tasmania with Lucan and the wonderful Ranicars; and most recently, I got to spend the 25th in Columbus, Ohio with Lucan, Conor, Sandy and Diago. I can’t tell you how much I cherish each and every one. Lucan and I owe a special thanks to Conor and Sandy for our 2014 celebration, which included lots of Swiss chocolate, a ton of presents and some delicious food. They were the perfect hosts: generous, kind and full of festive cheer. So thanks again for a very special day.

Sadly, this is the only pictures I have from our time in Ohio - I guess that's what happens when your hands have to chose between a camera and home-made ice cream.
